I thought I learned my lesson the last time I played a Google Play Points promotional game, but then I won one of my now-favorite shirts from Diamond Valley and all my apprehension went straight out the window. While feeling similarly janky, The Playground was not stuffed with any advertisements, save for its tie-in, Zedd in the Park. While I have almost no idea what Zedd in the Park is even after playing the game, I do know what Google Play points are. After earning a collective 400 of them between both times I was allowed to play, I'm not even mad that the game wasn't good. I guess that's not fair, as I did have a few moments where I enjoyed myself, but the poor controls and unbalanced stages didn't do much to impress me. I had not even finished Katamari Damacy REROLL yet, and I was already looking for more. That game was excellent, and if I have self-control issues with anything, it's video games. Now, Amazing Katamari Damacy was delisted a while ago, but I downloaded it for a bit when it was still around, so I was able to flick through my Play Store library a bit and download it again. When I first tried it a few years ago, I had no background in the Katamari series and didn't end up playing for long. I figured that this time around would be different since I was familiar with the mainline games, but I ended up dropping the game just as quick as the first time. When I first heard about Crash Bandicoot: On the Run , I was excited about the prospect of playing a Crash game on my phone, especially one built with the platform in mind. The pre-release screenshots inspired most of my hopefulness, making the game out to be a safe but enjoyable combination of Subway Surfers and the N. Sane Trilogy . The developer's history didn't inspire a lot of confidence in the potential player-friendliness of the game, but I stayed hopeful nonetheless. Upon release, I found that everything played out generally as expected, if not a little worse. It all looks and feels pretty great, but the execution is a total disaster. The primary goal in On the Run is to defeat interdimensional bosses and their henchmen, thereby returning them to their home dimension.
